2022 note: The 2022 Chianti Classico is a fine introduction to the Castellare range. Silky, aromatic and light on its feet, this is a wine of tremendous appeal. Located in the Chianti Classico commune of Castellina, this Castellare offering is comprised primarily of the local Sangiovese grape, Sangioveto. Research begun in the late 1970s allowed Castellare to isolate this clone and enabled the winery to make this very unique style of a Tuscan classic.
Grapes: Sangioveto 95%, Canaiolo 5%
Soil type: Limestone
Vinification: Fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature
Refinement: in used barriques and bottles for 7 months
Refinement in the bottle: 7 months
